Holly Springs announces the reopening of town playgrounds and the Hunt Fitness Center as the state moves into Phase 2.5 of the reopening plan. Public playgrounds and outdoor exercise stations will reopen by 5 p.m. Friday, Sept. 4. All equipment is undergoing safety inspections today. Staff will use a disinfecting solution recommended by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency on the equipment prior to reopening. Playgrounds will continue to be treated with the solution at least once a week.
Drinking fountains will remain closed in the parks as recommended by the N.C. Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS). Park restroom facilities are open for use and are disinfected daily.
The Hunt Fitness Center is preparing to reopen on Wednesday, Sept. 9 with limited operating hours. Capacity inside the center will be monitored and is not to exceed 30%. Members and staff will be required to wear face coverings except when strenuously exercising. Frequent disinfecting and social distancing protocols as required by DHHS will be implemented. Certain times will be designated for high-risk populations (55+) to help reduce the risk. The elevated walking track will remain closed while an overhead safety-barrier is identified and installed to limit second floor to first floor exposure. Indoor walking will be permitted in the gymnasium during designated times. Click here for more details.
Fitness classes will continue to be held outdoors through September. Classes and operating hours are expected to increase in October based on demand. Memberships will be reinstated in October with credit for the time that the center was closed.
