Town Observes Veterans Day Monday, Nov. 11

Town Holiday on Monday - Town offices will close Monday, Nov. 11, in observance of Veterans Day.

Veterans Day Ceremony Monday at Noon - All are invited to the ceremony at Veterans Park at 600 Bikram Drive. 

Speakers will include Mayor Dick Sears and David Boyd, a Holly Springs police officer and Marine Corps veteran who served in Afghanistan. Holly Springs firefighters will raise the flag. The Holly Springs Youth Choir will sing the national anthem. 

Garbage and Recycling on Schedule  - The holiday will not affect garbage and recycling collection since crews from the Town's service provider, Waste Industries, will be working.

Veterans Outreach Day Nov. 16 

The Town's first Veterans Outreach Day will be Saturday, Nov. 16, from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. at Holly Springs Police Department at 750 Holly Springs Road. 

Representatives from the Veterans Administration and more than two dozen other organizations will be participating. Veterans and family members of veterans are invited to the free event. Food will be served.

"I want to connect veterans with other veterans and to resources that can improve their quality of life and medical care," said Officer Boyd, the event's chief organizer. 

Veterans and family members will have the opportunity to learn about a wide variety of services, including those of the VA, the Brain Injury Association of N.C., Stop Soldier Suicide, the Travis Manion Foundation, and many more.
