Regular Employee Benefits
Listed below are Town employee benefits and their descriptions for regular full-time Town benefits. See the annual Benefits Summary booklet.
Group Health & Insurance
Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Carolina
The Town offers group health insurance for regular full-time employees. Employees may purchase dependent coverage, but the employee assumes the cost for dependent coverage.
Dental Coverage
The Town offers dental coverage for regular full-time employees. The Town offers dependent coverage for an additional cost to the employee.
Life Insurance
The Town offers a group life insurance policy. The amount of coverage is two times the annual salary. Employees may also purchase supplemental life insurance coverage for self or dependents.
Retirement
N.C. Local Government Employees’ Retirement System
The Town participates in the North Carolina Local Governmental Employees’ Retirement System starting the first day of your employment. As an employee, 6% is deducted from your pay check and applied to your retirement account. An employee becomes fully vested in the NCLGERS retirement plan after five years of credible service.
401K Retirement
The Town contributes 5% towards regular full-time employees’ 401 (k) Plan. Employees may elect to make voluntary contributions to the plan by payroll deduction. Employees are immediately invested in the North Carolina Supplemental Retirement Plan starting the first day of employment.
Flexible Spending Accounts
Employees are offered the option to participate in Flexible Spending Accounts, which provide a way to save federal, state and social security taxes on eligible medical and dependent care expenses.
Holidays
Employees receive 11 or 12 paid holidays per year depending on when Christmas falls.
Vacation Leave
Employees can accumulate vacation leave without any applicable maximum until December 31 of each year. At that time, any hours over 240 are converted to sick leave.

Sick Leave
Town employees accrue 12 paid sick leave days per year. There is no limit on the number of days accumulated.
Employee Assistance Program (EAP)
Business Health Services
The Town of Holly Springs provides employees and family members with free, confidential short-term counseling to help resolve problems (marital, family, financial, legal, alcohol and more) that may impact their work or personal lives. The EAP provides 24-hour phone assistance and is available for appointments at your convenience.
Longevity Bonus
The Town offers longevity bonus to reward the total years of service as a regular employee. Longevity pay is a lump sum payment given once a year after 5 years of continuous service based on the employee's date of hire in full-time position.

Long-Term Disability
The Town provides long-term disability coverage for employees. LTD offers a level of income replacement if an eligible employee is unable to work due to disability.
Voluntary Short-Term Disability
The Town offers a voluntary short term disability plan. Employees may purchase short-term disability insurance to replace a portion of their income if they cannot work due to an accident or illness (not job related). STD benefit provides up to 60% of your weekly earnings to a maximum of $500 per week.
Voluntary Vision Plan
EyeMedThe Town offers a voluntary supplemental vision benefit through EyeMed Vision Care for employees and dependents. The plan offers discounted vision care services as well as a hardware allowance for contacts or glasses through a provider network.
Workers Compensation
All Town employees (full-time and part-time) are covered under the N.C. Worker's Compensation Act. Responsibility for claiming compensation under the Workers Compensation Act is on the injured employee.
Credit Union Membership
N.C. Local Government Employees' Credit UnionAll employees have the opportunity to join the N.C. Local Government Employees' Credit Union.
Direct Deposit
The Town requires direct deposit for all employees. Employees are paid biweekly.
*Medical and dental insurance coverage becomes effective on the first day of the month following the hire date. All other insurance benefits will be effective 30 days from the date of hire.*
