A | B | C | D | E | F | G | H | I | J | K | L | M Parking The Town parking code limits where oversized vehicles can park, prohibits all vehicles from parking along Town thoroughfares and within 15 feet of any mailbox or intersection, and sets limits on parking in privately-owned or public lots. Parks and Facilities Paving By calling the Holly Springs Public Works Hotline, residents can leave messages listing any street or transportation-related problem, and details about the specific location of the problem, such as the nearest street address. Problems can range from potholes to shrubbery blocking line-of-sight at intersections, to damaged street curbing and more. Callers also are encouraged to leave their full name and phone number so Town employees can return their call within two business days, letting the resident know how the Town is solving the problem and when it will be corrected. To request the installation of curb and gutter (through the Town's assessment policy) contact the Department of Engineering. Permits If you are planning new construction or renovations to you home or business, you may need a permit before you can proceed with your work. Playgrounds Police Reports Copies of incident and arrest reports are available Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the administration office of the Holly Springs Department of Public Safety, 110 West Ballentine Street. The town will make temporary repairs to state-maintained roads (Holly Springs Road, Highway 55, New Hill Road, Sunset Lake Road, Bass Lake Road, Avent Ferry Road or Grigsby Avenue), until the NC Department of Transportation State Road Maintenance office can permanently repair the thoroughfare. For problems on streets outside Town of Holly Springs limits, call NCDOT/State Road Maintenance at (919) 733-3725. For problems with traffic signals, call the North Carolina Department of Transportation at (919) 560-6856. Property Tax In accordance with North Carolina law, the Town levies property (ad valorem) taxes on July 1, the beginning of the Town's fiscal year. These taxes are separate from those levied by Wake County. The taxes are due on Sept. 1, but interest does not accrue until the following Jan. 6. These taxes are based on assessed values as of Jan. 1. The Town of Holly Springs currently has a property (ad valorem) tax rate of 41.5 cents per $100 of the property's value. The Wake County Revenue Department bills and collects these taxes for the Town. The Wake County Revenue Department is also responsible for billing and collecting taxes on registered motor vehicles in the Town of Holly Springs. For motor vehicles registered under the staggered system, taxes are due the first day of the fourth month after the vehicles are registered. The billed taxes are applicable to the fiscal year in which they become due. For vehicles registered under the annual system, taxes are due on May 1 of each year. In addition to the ad valorem taxes, the Town also charges a vehicle decal fee of $10 per vehicle. This is included on the property tax bill. Public Nuisances Town code establishes rules for keeping the Town of Holly Springs a beautiful place. If you have a complaint about any public nuisance (junk vehicles, trash/debris, noxious weeds, etc.), contact the Building Code Enforcement Safety Officer Chuck Queen at (919) 557-2914 or Chuck.Queen@hollyspringsnc.us. Rescue Squad Returned Checks A fee of $25 will be assessed upon the return of the check or draft from the financial institution. Payment then must be made by cash, credit card, money order or certified funds within five working days. Rezoning See the Zoning Map Change entry.
