Landfills The Town of Holly Springs does not operate landfills for the disposal of any kind of wastes. However, curbside collection of yard waste, household wastes, recyclables and large (bulky) items is provided. For more information on curbside collection, click here for garbage & recycling information. To dispose of construction or large amounts of landscaping debris, the BFI corporation operates a construction and demolition landfill off New Hill Road. To dispose of other types of debris, call the South Wake Multi-Material Recycling Facility located at 6000 Old Smithfield Road, Apex. Lawn Sprinklers See the Irrigation/Sprinkler System entry. Leaf Collection See the Garbage & Recycling-Leaves entry. Leash Law Town ordinance requires that dogs and cats be under physical restraint (for example, on a leash) or in a secure fence while loose on the owner's property. Dogs and cats must always be under physical restraint or under the owners' command at all times while off the owner's property. Licenses-Dog There is no requirement for dogs to be registered or taxed in the Town of Holly Springs. However, the animal control ordinance requires that all pets be vaccinated against rabies. Manufactured and Mobile Homes Manufactured homes are a permitted use in the R-30 zoning district or require the approval of a special exception use by the Town Council in the R-20 and R-15 districts. Mobile homes (homes constructed prior to 1976, generally) are no longer permitted to be located within the Town. If you currently have a manufactured home or mobile home on your property, you may replace it with a newer and/or larger manufactured home despite the zoning of the property. This must be completed within six months of the removal of the old home only after gaining approval of the Planning & Zoning and Building Code Enforcement departments. Before removing the existing home or purchasing a new home, contact the Department of Planning & Zoning for additional information and regulations. Maps Street maps of the Town of Holly Springs are available at the Holly Springs Chamber of Commerce, 344 Raleigh Street, Suite 100. A wide range of GIS-based maps are available from the Engineering and Planning & Zoning departments for a small fee. The Engineering Department maintains property, current and long-range utilities (water, sewer and storm drainage), environmental buffers, transportation, street, topography, soil, and ortho-photo maps. In addition, Federal Emergency Management Act flood plain information is also available from the Engineering Department. Contact Engineering and/or Planning & Zoning to request specialized maps or to view approved plans for new subdivisions or sites. Mayor The Mayor, elected every four years, presides over meetings of the Town Council, and represents the Town at various civic, business, economic development and inter-governmental functions and ceremonies. Click here for more information about the mayor. Minimum Housing The Town of Holly Springs has a minimum housing code, which sets minimum standards for residential structures. The purpose of this code is to ensure the protection of the health and safety of the residents of our community. Town staff inspect homes for compliance with the code. These inspections are conducted on a systematic basis, or in response to a specific compliant. The Town of Holly Springs has an Inclement Weather Response Plan that guides how the Town prepares for, responds to and recovers from natural disasters. See the Inclement Weather Response Plan entry to download the document. Natural Gas Public Service of NC supplies natural gas to the Town of Holly Springs. Click here for additional information about utility services not provided by the Town, including electricity, gas, and phone service. New Businesses Contact the Chamber of Commerce or the Economic Development Department for more information. Noise Control The Town of Holly Springs recognizes that excessive and unnecessary noise endangers the physical and emotional health and welfare of people and is a public nuisance. Through the Town noise ordinance, the Police Department enforces and regulates noise levels. It is unlawful to disturb residents between 11 p.m. and 7 a.m. with excessive and unnecessary noise.
