Hospital Effort Seeks Community Support 3/29/2011 Letters supporting a hospital for Holly Springs are due to state regulators by April 15. Two proposals for a Holly Springs hospital are in the mix for 105 additional hospital beds that state officials have approved for Wake County. The Holly Springs Town Council has endorsed Rex Healthcare's proposal for a 50-bed hospital in Holly Springs. It would complement the Rex facility under construction at N.C. 55 Bypass and Avent Ferry Road. The Town Council is expected to endorse Novant Health's own proposal for a Holly Springs hospital at the April 5 council meeting. How to Get Involved
In 2008, the community rallied behind Novant Health's plan for a Holly Springs hospital. However, state regulators allocated the hospital beds elsewhere. With two Holly Springs proposals in the mix this time around, Town officials are avoiding playing favorites. They just want to ensure that Holly Springs does not come away empty-handed again. "Our goal is to make sure we get more health care," said Town Manager Carl Dean. "We're just fortunate we have two strong hospitals interested in our area."
