Gardening Workshop Feb. 6 at Bass Lake Park 1/18/2011

Wake County Extension master gardener volunteers are providing a free vegetable gardening workshop Sunday, Feb. 6 from 2-5 p.m. at Bass Lake Park.  It's aimed at the novice or beginning gardener, but anyone is welcome. 

Have you recently moved to North Carolina and wondered how a garden will grow here?  Have you tried to grow vegetables but feel that you don't really know how to be successful?  Are you thinking about growing vegetables for the first time this year? 

If you answered yes to any of those questions, this "How Does Your Vegetable Garden Grow" workshop is for you.

Topics to be covered include garden beds, soils, mulching, weeds, fertilizers, what to plant and when, irrigation, common pests and diseases, harvesting your garden, and overwintering. Master gardener volunteers will answer your questions.

The workshop is limited to the first 75 participants.  Please call Bass Lake Park office at (919) 557-2496 to pre-register.  This workshop is free.
