Snowplows in September 9/7/2010 Snowplows will hit the streets Thursday, Sept. 16. But that doesn't mean Holly Springs is skipping fall and heading straight into winter. Holly Springs Public Works crews will be checking out street-clearing equipment that day so they'll be ready if icy weather hits months from now. "This is to let us know what functions and does not function and for people to get familiar with the equipment," said Public Works Director Luncie McNeil. "We don't want to wait until winter because it can take six to eight weeks to get a part." Folks could see snowplowing equipment anywhere in Holly Springs on Sept. 16. Blades will be raised to prevent damage to streets. The following Thursday, crews will rehearse response to a sewage overflow. So passersby may see crews and equipment assembled at one location. Call the Public Works Department at (919) 552-5920 with questions.
