Prescription Drug Disposal Offered 10/13/2010 Safely empty your medicine cabinet of unneeded prescription drugs in front of the Walmart store Saturday, Oct. 30 during a countywide initiative to keep narcotics and other drugs out of the wrong hands. Holly Springs police will handle the collection outside Walmart between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. as part of Operation Medicine Drop. Disposal is free with no questions asked and no identification needed. Holly Springs' Wal-Mart store is at 7016 G.B. Alford Hwy., which is the N.C. 55 Bypass. In addition to deterring drug theft, Operation Medicine cabinet presents an environmentally-friendly alternative to flushing unwanted medicine down toilets. Flushing medicines can complicate wastewater treatment. The Wake County Sheriff's Department will arrange for incineration of the collection at a later time. Call Detective Dan Gledhill of the Holly Springs Police Department at (919) 567-4702 if you have questions about Operation Medicine Drop.
