Three winners in the NBA FIT Challenge competition at Hunt Community Center will participate in the Charlotte Bobcats regional competition next month.
All Town offices will close from noon until 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 16 for the employee holiday luncheon. Offices will reopen after the lunch.
Entry applications are due Monday, Nov. 23 for the 15th annual Happy Holly Days Christmas Parade, which draws huge crowds along Main Street on the second Saturday of December.
This year's parade is Saturday, Dec. 12. Lineup for entries starts at 9:30 a.m. The parade begins at 11 a.m.
Mighty Mite Gold Team Advances in Youth Football 11/9/2009
The Mighty Mite Gold team plays Wendell on Sunday, Nov. 15 in Clayton in the semi-finals of the East Wake Football League playoffs. The winner will move on to play in the league championship.
The Town is seeking applicants for its Recreation Advisory Committee, which advises the Town Council. Applications are due Nov. 11.
Approximately 10-15 homes on two downtown streets were without water after a water line valve broke Wednesday morning at the intersection of Main Street and Maple Avenue.

The festival runs from 2-5 p.m. and is followed by a free concert from 5:30 - 7:30 p.m.
Enjoy food, music, crafts, games and contests for kids, racing pigs and more at HollyFest, a fall tradition in Holly Springs on Saturday, Oct. 31. The festival runs from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. in Womble Park.
Repaving will occur this fall on about seven additional streets as part of a resurfacing project that began last spring.

Holly Springs Parks and Recreation will be unable to accept credit card payments on Monday, July 20 for any programs or classes. The credit card service interruption applies to registration online and at all facilities.
Police, Fire, EMS and Wake County Public Schools officials will conduct an emergency response exercise Wednesday morning, July 22, at Holly Ridge Middle School.
The Holly Springs Fire Department has improved its insurance rating from Class 6 to Class 4, enabling commercial properties without sprinkler systems to save on fire insurance premiums.

The Town of Holly Springs expects a record turnout for its rabies clinic on Saturday, March 21 with many pet owners searching for a low-cost way to protect four-legged family members in tough economic times.
Rabies shots are only $5 each (cash only) from 9 a.m. until noon March 21 in the Police Department parking lot. It’s behind Town Hall at 128 S. Main St. in downtown Holly Springs. Pets should be on leashes or in carriers.
Garbage and recycling service resumes Tuesday and will run a day behind this week because of the snow. Waste Industries crews will work Saturday to make up for lost time.
All Parks and Recreation Department programs, classes and games were canceled Monday. The department follows the cancellation policy of Wake County Public Schools, which were closed Monday because of the overnight snowfall.

Town offices were closed Tuesday because of the snow. Only emergency personnel were on duty. Tuesday night's Town Council meeting was canceled.

Drop off old telephone books at the Wake County solid waste convenience center at 6025 Old Smithfield Road, just outside Holly Springs on the west side of N.C. 55 Bypass.
Wake County Solid Waste now accepts residents' phone books year-round at Old Smithfield Road and a dozen other locations throughout the county, including one in the New Hill community. They're open daily 7 a.m. - 7 p.m.
The Town is seeking applicants for an open seat on the Parks and Recreation Advisory Committee.
