Holly Springs Among "America's Top 100 Places to Live" 4/21/2009 For the second straight year, Holly Springs has been named one of the nation’s top 100 places to live by Relocate America, a Web site that connects relocating consumers and area residents with community resources. Holly Springs is one of five North Carolina cities and towns on Relocate America’s 2009 “America’s Top 100 Places to Live.” The Web site released its 12th annual listing Tuesday. Given concerns about the nation’s economy and housing market, Relocate America representatives said they approached the 2009 ranking differently than in previous years. “We concentrated on the outlook for future growth and ability to rebound in the communities that we selected,” said Steve Nickerson, president and CEO. “We looked at the local government and the business leadership in each community as we considered this year’s winners.” Relocate America based its “Top 100” selection on interviews with local leaders; feedback from residents; and economic, environmental, education, crime, employment and housing data for the past year. “We selected communities with visionary leaders; improving or thriving economies, including housing; and realization of ‘green’ initiatives,” Nickerson said. Ranking fourth nationally were Raleigh and Durham, combined as one community for the Top 10 list. In addition to Holly Springs, Apex and Fayetteville made Relocate America’s top 100. Only the top 10 were ranked. Holly Springs Mayor Dick Sears said Relocate America’s inclusion of Holly Springs reflects the town’s growth, solid Town finances, and adaptability to changing economic circumstances. “Kudos to the citizens, the Town staff and Town board for once again enabling Holly Springs to be recognized as a great place to live,” he said. In 2008, Holly Springs was one of five North Carolina communities that Relocate America chose as “America’s Top 100 Places to Live.” The others were Cary, Raleigh, Wilmington, and the Union County town of Indian Trail. In 2007, Money Magazine named Holly Springs one of the best places to live in the country, ranking it 22nd among 100 Great American Towns. Holly Springs was one of three North Carolina towns on the list. Also in 2007, Forbes Magazine ranked Holly Springs 18th nationally and tops in North Carolina among the fastest growing suburbs between 2000 and 2006.
