Improvements to Main Street downtown are under way, so motorists should be extra careful between Center and Raleigh streets.

The 90-day project includes decorative sidewalk, lighting, underground utilities, benches, trash receptacles, bike racks, cross walks, tree grates, and landscaping.

No detours are planned during the construction. However, lanes will be narrowed with traffic barrels, so drivers are asked to slow down.
