3 Neighborhoods Get New Garbage Day 5/18/2009

Approximately 550 homes in parts of the Winward Pointe, Avent Acres and Sunset Forest Circle neighborhoods will get new garbage and recycling collection days starting in June as Waste Industries shifts routes because of growth.

Homeowners whose collection day is changing will receive postcards in the mail and stickers on their carts notifying them of the switch. The route changes begin the week of June 1. Most Holly Springs customers are unaffected and will not receive any postcards or stickers.

See the new town-wide map showing collection days for all customers.

"It's been three years since we've made adjustments," Ben Habets of Waste Industries said last week. "Obviously, parts of any town grow differently than others. We'd like to balance it out."

Yard waste collection is not affected.

Waste Industries realizes some customers may set out carts on the wrong day, Habets said, and crews are prepared to return for pickup during the transition.

"We know some people will miss," he said, "and we'll go back and pick up."

Customers who miss their new collection day or have questions can call the Holly Springs Public Works Department at (919) 552-5920.
