Town Eases Water Restrictions 4/1/08

The Town of Holly Springs will allow use of automated irrigation and sprinkler systems three times a week, easing watering restrictions to match those of its supplier, Harnett County.

The Town Council voted unanimously April 1 to ease restrictions, effective the following day. Improvement in the region’s drought allowed Harnett County to modify its water
conservation measures a few days earlier.

Here are the new Holly Springs watering rules in a nutshell:

  • Odd-number addresses - Sprinklers and irrigation systems are allowed on Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday between 6 and 10 a.m. and 6 and 10 p.m.
  • Even-number addresses - Sprinklers and irrigation systems are allowed on Saturday, Monday and Wednesday between 6 and 10 a.m. and 6 and 10 p.m.
  • No use of irrigation systems or sprinklers is allowed on Fridays

30-day watering permits for new seed or sod will cost $50. However, the $50 fee will be waived for warm season grasses.

Other restrictions that have been in place are lifted for now, although the Town asks that water customers conserve however they can. Residents can wash vehicles at home any day of the
week, power wash a home, etc.

See the revised restrictions.
