Raleigh-Wake Senior Games 2/19/08

The registration deadline is March 14 for the 2008 Raleigh-Wake Senior Games, which will offer more than 30 sporting events plus artistic competition this spring for people 55 and older.

The Raleigh-Wake Senior Games and Silver Arts will be held March 31-April 13 at various sites throughout Wake County. Medal winners may compete in the N.C. Senior Games this fall.

Organizers are also seeking volunteers to help run the events.

The Raleigh-Wake Senior Games and Silver Arts feature tennis, golf, bowling, track and field and numerous other sports. Artistic competition includes the visual, literary and performing arts as well as crafts.

Last year more than 600 residents of Wake County and surrounding areas participated in the Raleigh-Wake Senior Games. It is the largest of 52 sanctioned local games in the state.

No qualifying events are scheduled for Holly Springs. However, participants may call the Hunt Center at (919) 557-9602 if they need practice space or would like more information.
