Baseball, Softball Opening Day Ceremonies 4/21/08

Approximately 700 baseball and softball players are scheduled to gather Monday evening, April 21 at Womble Park for Holly Springs Parks & Recreation Opening Day ceremonies.

All players, coaches and families are invited to attend the ceremonies, which will start at 6:15 p.m. on Field 4.

Games are scheduled Monday evening on all four fields at Womble Park and the Jones Park field. Softball games are also being played at Holly Springs High School and Holly Ridge Middle School as part of the Town's joint use agreement with Wake County Public Schools.

The number of fields used for the Town's baseball and softball program has increased from two in 2002 to five now, plus three school fields through joint use agreements. The number of players has more than doubled in the past six years from 372 in 2002 to 823 in 2008.
