Water Line Breaks in Braxton Village 8/19/2008

Water has been restored to approximately 135 homes that lost service before dawn Tuesday after a water line break in the Braxton Village subdivision

The break occurred at approximately 4 a.m. in the intersection of Texanna Way and Holly Meadow Drive. Town crews restored water service about 2 p.m.

The cause of the 12-inch diameter line break has not been determined.

Town employees hand-delivered notices of the line break to affected homes. They also took bottled water.

Residents who lost water service Tuesday received follow-up instructions on what to do after the water was turned back on.

Those instructions applied only at the homes that lost water service - those on the 200 block and higher of Texanna Way and those on Talley Ridge and Harvolly drives.

Meanwhile, traffic through parts of Braxton Village is being rerouted until pavement is repaired where the water line broke.

The lower intersection of Holly Meadow Drive and Avent Ferry Road remains closed to through traffic. Motorists should use the upper Holly Meadow Drive entrance to Braxton Village and follow the detour route - Evergreen View Drive to Avent Meadows Lane to Holly Thorn Trace.
