Preorders Taken for April 12 Rain Barrel Sale 4/1/08

Come to Bass Lake Park on Saturday morning, April 12 for what may be the Town of Holly Springs' final rain barrel sale of the year.

Holly Springs residents may preorder. They can call (919) 557-2924 to reserve a barrel and pay when they pick it up. The limit is two barrels per person. Holly Springs residents receive first priority.

The April 12 sale starts at 8 a.m. for Holly Springs residents and opens to everyone at 9 a.m. The sale will continue while supplies last, but the barrels may be gone by 11 a.m., possibly even earlier.

The cost is $78 for a 60-gallon barrel and $90 for an 80-gallon one.

To preorder, Town residents should call (919) 557-2924 and provide:

• Name
• Address
• Barrel size requested
• Number of barrels (1 or 2)

Although preordering is not required, it will help us gauge how many barrels to request from the manufacturer. Those who have reserved a barrel can come to Bass Lake Park anytime before 11 a.m. on April 12 to pay for it. Home delivery is not available.

The barrels come with a brass spigot, two overflow valves that could be used to connect additional barrels, and a screen to keep out debris and insects.

A mere quarter inch of rainfall provides enough runoff from the average roof to fill a typical rain barrel. The barrels provide a way for residents to sustain landscaping in a time of exceptional drought and increasingly stringent watering restrictions.
