Stinson Avenue Connection to Start 9/10/2007

Construction will begin in September to connect two sections of Stinson Avenue between the Woodcliff subdivision near Womble Park and the Chelsea Woods subdivision off Bass Lake Road. Completion is expected in March 2008.

The 800-foot-long section will be two lanes with curb and gutter and sidewalk. The cost of the project, which includes a waterline connection, is about $480,000.

The project will provide another road connection between the center and east side of town, said Town Engineer Stephanie Sudano.

The Stinson Avenue connection has been planned for 10 years.

“It's the last of a group of projects the Town Council approved to move forward in 2002,” Sudano said.

The waterline work will involve tying two dead-end lines together to provide another loop and increase efficiency of the distribution system, said Engineer Kendra Stephenson.

“If [a line] breaks,” she said, “it gives you more options to re-route the water.”
