Rockin' at the Crossing Returns Thursday, May 31 5/22/07

Kick back with family and friends at free concerts the last Thursday of May, June and July as Rockin' at the Crossing returns to Holly Springs Crossing shopping center.

Bass Lake Draft House and DJF Builders are sponsoring the events with assistance from the Town. The concerts will be from 5:30 - 9:30 p.m. in the parking lot of the center, which is at the corner of Holly Springs and Bass Lake roads.

Opening the season will be Holly Springs' own GB4 with a variety of rock, funk, blues, and alternative music. The band covers artists such as Dave Mathews, Bare Naked Ladies, SRV, ZZTop, Skynyrd, and Van Halen. The band's style ranges from full throttle rock to unplugged.

The 2007 season of Rockin' at the Crossing includes Purple Schoolbus on June 28 and Groovetown on July 26.

“It's a great way to bring the community together,” Town Manager Carl Dean said, adding the concerts draw people from nearby towns.

Parking will be available at and near the shopping center. You don't need a ticket. Bring a chair if you like. A map and directions are available.

Draft beer, soft drinks and water will be sold outside. Bass Lake Draft House will have outdoor grills while offering a full menu inside. Coolers are not permitted.

This is the third season for Rockin' at the Crossing, which began with two concerts in 2005. There were three shows last year.

"It's very family friendly," said Andrew Stafford, owner of Bass Lake Draft House. "Kids enjoy it."

The Town of Holly Springs assists with stage setup, traffic control, cleanup and other details.

“As long as people are enjoying it,” Dean said, “we'd like to continue making it an annual thing.”
