Town Seeks Ideas on Bass Lake Park Addition 4/17/07 The Town is seeking citizens' ideas on how best to use 9 acres that were added recently to Bass Lake Park. Meetings are scheduled for April 25, May 6 and May 30 from 7-9 p.m. at Bass Lake Retreat Center. The public input sessions will kick off work on a master plan for the park addition. See a map. Park Manager Scott Barnard said the Town wants input on the types of uses citizens desire for the park addition. “We hope to have the master plan complete by mid-August,” he said. The Town acquired the 9 acres from the Trust for Public Land. The Town and Wake County split equally the cost of the land, with the Town's share being just under $445,000. The property has access to Bass Lake Road. As Holly Springs continues to develop and land prices rise, open space preservation becomes increasingly important. Acquisition of the property means Holly Springs citizens will have a larger, better protected refuge - a place to get away and enjoy nature for years to come. "We want to make sure we meet the goals of both the Trust for Public Land and the Town of Holly Springs in preserving open space,” said Town Manager Carl Dean.
