Halloween Observed Wednesday 10/29/2007

Trick-or-treaters will be out and about Wednesday, Oct. 31. So Town leaders ask for your help in promoting safety and courtesy on Halloween.

Trick-or-treating ought to occur in early evening, wrapping up before 8:30 p.m. Residents who do not want to participate are asked to leave their porch lights off. Trick-or-treaters should respect those residents' wishes by not approaching their homes. It's safest for children to remain in their neighborhoods, visiting only the homes of people they're familiar with.

Trick-or-treating should be restricted to children under the age of 13. A responsible older person ought to accompany them. Teenagers should refrain from trick-or-treating. Those who do should not wear masks.

Costumes should not obstruct children's vision and need materials that motorists can see easily in the dark.

Parents or guardians should inspect candy before children eat it. Report tampering or other suspicious activity to the Holly Springs Police Department at (919) 557-9111.

McGruff the Crime Dog will be at Holly Springs Police Department next-door to Town Hall from 5 - 6:30 p.m. on Halloween. McGruff will hand out candy to children.
