Forum Highlights Activities for Kids 1/23/07 Need something for the kids to do when they're not in school? Assess the need and explore options during a forum at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 30 at Holly Springs United Methodist Church. The Education Committee of the Holly Springs Chamber of Commerce is co-sponsoring the forum with Southwest Wake YMCA. Town Parks and Recreation staff will explain after-school programs and other activities. They'll also gauge interest in programs for year-round students on break. The Eyes on Kids Education Forum will focus on the status of Holly Springs' youth and the many resources and activities available for them. Program participants will include Police Chief John Herring, representatives from the Wake County Sheriff's Department and Wake County Social Services, and the Rev. Otis Byrd of First Baptist Church of Holly Springs. Local businesses that provide youth-oriented community resources will distribute information from 7 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. The speakers and a question-and-answer session will follow. Holly Springs United Methodist Church is at 108 Avent Ferry Road, near Town Hall. For more information on the forum, contact the Chamber of Commerce at (919) 567-1796.
