Oct. 11 Workshop to Focus on Town's Future 10/02/2007

Help plan Holly Springs' future at a workshop on the Town's draft Comprehensive Plan Thursday evening, Oct. 11 at Holly Springs Elementary School.

Drop in anytime between 5 and 8 p.m. to see the draft plan, ask questions and give your ideas on how Holly Springs should grow. Everyone is invited.

The workshop will be in the school's multi-purpose room. Presentations are scheduled for 5:15, 6:15 and 7:15. Town staff members will be at each workshop station.

The Comprehensive Plan will serve as a policy guide. Focuses include growth management, housing, economic development, transportation, recreation and open space.

"The plan addresses future land uses and sets up community growth areas around the town where commercial and higher densities are proposed to be located in the future," said Jeff Jones of the Planning & Zoning Department.

The community growth areas are designed to encourage people to walk from their homes to stores and other businesses nearby.

The Town's Planning Board is expected to review the draft plan Oct. 23. The Town Council is tentatively scheduled to hold a public hearing at its Nov. 6 meeting.
