Registration Under Way for Cultural Center Classes 12/27/2007

Registration is under way for a new season of classes beginning in January at Holly Springs Cultural Center.

Want to conquer stage fright, cook up a tasty treat or learn to dance like no one's watching? Holly Springs Cultural Center is home to many creative classes and programs focusing on the visual and performing arts, plus other interests such as cooking or learning Spanish.

“Our classes are led by some of the most talented artists and teachers in the Triangle,” said Emily Wright, program coordinator.

The upcoming class season runs January - May. Age requirements and costs vary by class. For a list of classes, visit the Cultural Center section of www.hollyspringsnc.us or call (919) 567-4000. Register online if you choose.

Here's a small sampling of what the cultural center offers:

Drama - Classes focus on teamwork, confidence and speaking ability. They provide on-stage and off-stage experience. Classes include creative movement, dramatic games, short skits and improvisational exercises. No two classes are the same.

Cooking - Classes are offered for every age, from preschoolers to senior citizens. Learn basic kitchen safety and how to work in the kitchen while creating a tasty treat. New classes include couples cooking and cooking for one.

Dancing - Dance like no one is watching. Learn the basics of shag, line dancing, West Coast swing and ballroom dancing. Gain confidence to dance the right way.

The cultural center also offers classes in art, music and in learning Spanish.

Next summer, the cultural center will offer camps. Camp registration begins Feb. 2 and continues until a week before the camp begins.
