The Town Council set a work session on the budget for May 11. The council is tentatively scheduled to hold a public hearing during its June 5 regular meeting.

"The Town of Holly Springs has experienced a great deal of positive growth over the past several years, enhancing the Town's ability to improve services provided to its citizens," Dean said in his budget message.

He stressed the importance of quality programs and services, economic development and infrastructure to maintain quality of life.

Some Highlights of the Proposed Budget

  • The property tax rate remains at 53 cents per $100 valuation on a tax base of approximately $1.6 billion.
  • The budget contains a total of 16 new positions, including police officers, firefighters and staff for such functions as park maintenance, code enforcement, sanitation, street maintenance and wastewater utilities.
  • Yard waste fees remain the same.
  • Solid waste and recycling fees rise 15 cents per month to $9.95 and $2.55, respectively.
  • The monthly access fees for water and for sewer increase by 50 cents each in preparation for the upcoming wastewater treatment plant expansion.

Paper copies of the proposed budget are available for inspection in Town Hall during normal business hours.
