Blood Drive Set for Jan. 3 12/28/2007

Holly Springs Cultual Center will host a blood drive Thursday, Jan. 3 from 9:30 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. Call the center at (919) 567-4000 to sign up or to get more information.

Donors must be in good health, at least 17 years old and weigh at least 110 pounds. They cannot be on antibiotics and should suspend taking any medicine for at least 24 hours before donating.

Rex Blood Services will conduct the blood drive at the cultural center. All donors must bring a photo ID or blood donor card.

Donors should eat breakfast or lunch before giving blood. They can resume normal activity afterward, but should avoid lifting heavy objects or exercising strenuously for 24 hours.

Donors can give blood every 56 days. There is no longer a one-year waiting period after getting a tatoo if it was administered at a licensed U.S. facility.

Holly Springs Cultural Center is on West Ballentine Street, near Town Hall. It adjoins the Holly Springs branch library.
