4-Way Stop Going Up Behind Town Hall 12/28/2007

The intersection of Avent Ferry Road and Ballentine Street behind Town Hall will become a four-way stop beginning Jan. 15.

The four-way stop will be a change for motorists on Avent Ferry Road. Currently, only Ballentine Street traffic stops at the intersection.

Pedestrian safety is part of the reason for the change at the intersection. A crosswalk is there for pedestrians headed to and from Holly Springs Cultural Center on Ballentine Street.

Adding stop signs on Avent Ferry Road will also make it easier for people backing out of parking spaces behind Town Hall.

Holly Springs police will be watching the intersection especially closely beginning Jan. 15. They won't have far to go. The police station is there.

Pavement markings plus flashing red lights above the stop signs will be used to help warn motorists of the four-way stop. A message board will be installed temporarily on Avent Ferry Road between Ballentine Street and the highway.
