Homeowners Can Help Ensure Timely Yard Waste Pickup 03/15/06 Bundle tree limbs and separate them from other yard waste for faster curbside collection, Town Public Works crews remind homeowners. Crews vacuum curbside piles of leaves, shrubbery trimmings and similar yard debris. So piling tree limbs separately is a must. "We're trying to stay on schedule and on route," Public Works Director Luncie McNeil said. "Backtracking takes time." Separate trucks are used for collecting tree limbs and for vacuuming other yard waste. So crews will skip homes where tree limbs are mixed with yard debris that is vacuumed. "It could result in you not having a timely collection," McNeil said, adding those homeowners might have to wait until the following week for yard waste pickup. Town crews will collect tree limbs that are no more than 4 feet long or six inches in diameter. Limbs must be tied with twine or string in piles that weigh less than 50 pounds. Limbs should be placed at the edge of the yard, not in the street. "For anything that exceeds 2.5 cubic yards, there is a fee associated with collection," McNeil said, referring to tree limb pickup.
