Four Join Holly Springs Police Department 09/22/06

Four newcomers officially joined the ranks of Holly Springs police Thursday morning during a swearing in ceremony at Town Hall.

The four include two officers from area police departments, a transfer from Holly Springs Fire Department, and a recent graduate of the Basic Law Enforcement Training program. They are:

• Jimmy E. Price, formerly of the Erwin Police Department
• Bobby L. Haynes, a B.L.E.T. graduate of Central Carolina Community College
• Mitchell A. Ham, formerly of the Pittsboro Police Department
• Dray Holland, who served as a Holly Springs firefighter

Police Chief John Herring said the selection process for Holly Springs police officers is lengthy and taxing.

“We are excited for these officers," Herring said. "I know they're ready to hit the street and begin their field training.”

With the four additions, the Holly Springs Police Department now has 27 sworn officers in its ranks. Herring said the department is continuing to accept applications and conduct interviews for two additional positions.

Fellow officers, family members and other Town staff attended Thursday's ceremony.
