Holly Springs Police Welcome 2 New Officers 07/28/06 Officers Macy Baltrus and Christopher Singletary are the newest members of the Holly Springs Police Department.
"I believe in what I said when I took the oath," said Herring, who joined the Town 12 1/2 years ago and became interim chief when police and fire became separate departments on July 1. "There's honor in what we do." Baltrus graduated from East Carolina University this year in criminal justice. She took basic law enforcement training at Pitt Community College. "I wanted to do something where I could make a difference," she said after the ceremony. Singletary took basic law enforcement training at Wake Technical Community College. He had been a police officer in Angier since 2001. "I've heard great things about the town and the people," he said of Holly Springs. The Police Department has approximately 27 sworn officer positions, plus seven civilian support personnel and five part-time employees.

Interim Police Chief John Herring swore them to duty as officers during a ceremony in the Town Council Chambers on July 20. It was the first time that the Town has held a ceremony for new officers as they take the oath.
