Halloween Observed Tuesday, Oct. 31 10/25/06 The Town of Holly Springs does not change the date for trick-or-treating, so it's always Oct. 31. If you choose to participate, please ensure your children are in safe costumes that do not obstruct their vision and allow motorists to see them easily. A responsible older person should go along. It's best to stick to your own neighborhoods or the homes of acquaintances. Respect the right of homeowners not to participate. Skip homes where porch lights are off. Wrap up trick-or-treating at a reasonable hour, preferably by 8:30 p.m. Trick-or-treating is appropriate only for children 12 and under. If teenagers are determined to go trick-or-treating, they should not wear masks. Inspect treats before allowing children to eat them. If you suspect tampering, call Holly Springs Police at (919) 552-7110. For added safety, Holly Springs Medical Center is volunteering to screen candy with an X-ray machine. Screening will be available from 6-8 p.m. on Oct. 31 at the medical center at 500 Holly Springs Road. Holly Springs police officers have ordered small trick or treat bags with the department's information and safety tips printed on them. Get them at Town Hall.
