Growth Plan Meeting Held Nov. 16 11/07/06

Citizens are invited to Hunt Community Center on Thursday evening, Nov. 16, to discuss a plan being prepared to help guide growth in Holly Springs.

The meeting from 6-8 p.m. will be an opportunity to comment on solutions to issues that citizens have raised. The issues came up during a July 12 public meeting and in responses to surveys sent to residents during September and October.

The new  comprehensive  plan will serve as a policy guide and future land use strategy to help Town officials update the zoning code. The plan will provide vision for growth management, economic development, housing, transportation, recreation and open space.

The Town Council is expected to adopt the plan in May 2007.

The Town is also completing a Parks & Recreation Master Plan to ensure that recreational requirements of a diverse and rapidly increasing population can be met over the next decade and beyond.

Holly Springs' population increased ten-fold during the 1990s to nearly 9,200 and currently is estimated at more than 18,000. The town is projected to have more than 31,000 residents by 2015.

For more information on the comprehensive plan, contact Jeff Jones of the Planning Department at (919) 557-3905 or jeff.jones@hollyspringsnc.us.
