Fire Station Dedication Set for June 28 06/19/06

Enjoy homemade ice cream and tour Holly Springs' new fire station at the dedication ceremony on Wednesday, June 28 from 5-7 p.m.

Ceremonies will include a fire hose uncoupling, a firefighters' variation on a ribbon-cutting, at 6 p.m.

The new Station 1 opened in April at 700 Flint Point Lane off Holly Springs Road, near Bass Lake Road. It replaced a small, prefabricated building on Main Street.

"We just couldn't be happier to be in here," said Assistant Fire Chief Kevin Ashworth.

The new station is nearly four times the size of the former Main Street station. It has 13 bedrooms, a full service kitchen, dining room, day room, administrative offices and equipment bay upstairs. A training room and fitness center are below.

In case of power failure, Station 1 has full generator backup. The Town's emergency communications center could operate there if needed.

Holly Springs' other station, at 1140 Avent Ferry Road, is now Station 2.
