Emergency Exercise Held Thursday in Holly Springs 03/22/06

Holly Springs police and firefighters are holding an emergency preparedness exercise on Thursday in conjunction Wake County Emergency Management and nearby municipal agencies.

The exercise begins at approximately 3 p.m. Thursday and involves multiple locations in and near Holly Springs over several hours. Signs will be posted.

Participating police officers, firefighters and other emergency responders are not being told ahead of time what kind of emergency they will face. The purpose is to assess how they would respond, communicate and coordinate in a real emergency.

Citizens are asked not to call 911 with questions about the exercise to keep 911 free for actual emergencies. For more information about the exercise, contact Assistant Fire Chief Kevin Ashworth at (919) 557-3919.

The exercise is sponsored by the Wake County Domestic Preparedness Task Force. It is funded through the U.S. Department of Homeland Security through the N.C. Department of Crime Control and Public Safety's Division of Emergency Management.
