There's a lot happening in Holly Springs these days. If you couldn't attend the Development Information Session on Sept. 20, watch presentations on new businesses and Town facilities that are on the way.

The gathering at Town Hall focused on projects that are under construction or in the planning stages. The session included refreshments, maps and other displays, and an opportunity for residents and Town staff to chat. Presentations and a question and answer period followed.

"We felt this would be a great opportunity to inform our citizens about all the exciting projects within the town,” said Jenny Mizelle, the Town's Economic Development director.

The Development Information Session included details on the flu vaccine manufacturing facility that the pharmaceutical giant Novartis will build in Holly Springs Business Park. Other new businesses on the way include Shoppes of Holly Springs, anchored by a Super Wal-Mart.

Town projects include the Holly Springs Cultural Center, which is nearing completion, plus road, water and sewer projects. The Town is also working on a new comprehensive plan.

The Development Information Session was the second such update that Town officials have provided in the past 2 1/2 years.

"With the volume of commercial and industrial activity we're now seeing," Town Manager Carl Dean said, "this [development update] probably could be an annual event."
