Cultural Center Organizing Volunteers, Meeting with Arts Groups 09/29/06

Meetings have been scheduled with those who would like to volunteer at the new Holly Springs Cultural Center or help develop a network for the performing arts.

  • Wednesday, Oct. 11, 2006 - Volunteer Organization Meeting
Town Hall, Holleman Room on First Floor
    7 - 8:30 p.m.
  • Tuesday, Oct. 17 - Arts Groups Open House
Town Hall, Holleman Room on First Floor
    7 - 8:30 p.m.

The Town cultural center and Wake County branch library connected to it are nearing completion on West Ballentine Street, a block from Town Hall. A ribbon-cutting is scheduled for Dec. 9 in conjunction with the Happy Holly Days Christmas Parade.

There are many fun and meaningful ways to serve, even before the center opens. We're looking for friendly faces interested in donating their time and talents to the arts in these areas:

  • Ushering and ticket-taking
  • Sale of artists' merchandise before shows, during intermission, and afterward
  • Special events and children's show assistance
  • Gallery & exhibition coordination
  • Front desk and clerical duties such as answering phones, filing, mailing, data entry
  • Graphic design and copyediting
  • Marketing

We envision the cultural center becoming the home for a variety of dance, theater and music groups. These could include groups such as the Springs Dance Company, Springs Singers Children's Choir and the Community Band.

“This will be a chance to network with those existing groups, but also offer interested residents discussion on creating new groups that could use the center,” said Bob Klaus, cultural center manager. “We're especially interested in finding citizens interested in helping re-launch a community theater group for Holly Springs.”

For more information about the cultural center or the Oct. 11 and Oct. 17 meetings, e-mail bob.klaus@hollyspringsnc.us.
