Robbery Occurs at Automatic Teller Machine 08/22/06

Holly Springs police are advising caution for customers at automatic teller machines in light of a robbery last Friday in the parking lot of Oak Hall shopping center.

A teen-aged girl using an automatic teller machine there was robbed shortly before noon by a man who had what appeared to be a gun. The victim was not injured.

No arrests have been made. The robber was described as a black man in his early 20s who wore a white T-shirt and baggy jeans. He also wore what the victim described as a towel around his head. The robber may have been driving a black Ford pickup truck with an extended cab.

After the robbery, police were told that the man had been loitering near the teller machine for a couple of hours or more before the holdup. Officers are asking anyone who may have seen the suspect to call (919) 557-9111 with information.

Police advise bank machine customers to be observant of people nearby and to leave if anyone arouses their suspicions.
