Town Council to Hold Public Hearing Sept. 20 on Downtown Plan

The Holly Springs Town Council will hold a public hearing Sept. 20 on a plan to guide development downtown. The council may vote on the plan at the same meeting.

The Village District Area Plan illustrates a commitment to retaining small town charm, even as Holly Springs experiences rapid population growth.

The Town is focusing on the quality and character of development to ensure that it improves Holly Springs’ appearance and livability instead of detracting. The plan stresses the importance of a downtown where people can live, work and be entertained.

Creation of the plan has included extensive community involvement. In July, residents were invited to help project designers put ideas to paper during a series of community workshops. In August, the Town Planning Board endorsed the downtown plan.

Following adoption, the Town expects to begin implementation by changing ordinances and policies. Council members and staff will seek public and private funding, including grants. Tasks include prioritizing capital improvements project and developing additional marketing materials for economic development.

Town Council meetings typically are on the first and third Tuesdays at 7 p.m. For more information, call (919) 557-3908.
