Volunteers Needed to Fill Planning Posts 10/19/05

Applications are due Nov. 14, 2005 for openings on two citizen advisory boards - the Planning & Zoning Board and the Board of Adjustment.

The Town Council is scheduled to make the appointments at its Dec. 6 meeting.

Planning Board Openings

• 3 seats for Holly Springs residents (Terms run Jan. 1, 2006 - Dec. 31, 2008.)
• 1 seat for ETJ resident (Unexpired term ends Dec. 31, 2006.)

Board of Adjustment Openings

• 1 seat for Holly Springs resident (Term runs Jan. 1, 2006 - Dec. 31, 2008.)
• 1 seat for ETJ resident (Term runs Jan. 1, 2006 - Dec. 31, 2008.)
• 1 alternate seat for ETJ resident (Term runs Jan. 1, 2006 - Dec. 31, 2008.)

About These Boards

The Planning Board makes recommendations to the Town Council on development proposals, rezoning applications, and other development-related requests. It also proposes revisions and additions to zoning regulations and the Comprehensive Growth Plan.

Meetings are open to the public and are held the fourth Tuesday of each month at 7 p.m.

The Board of Adjustment has quasi-judicial powers and acts separately from the Town Council. The board conducts public hearings and renders rulings on variances from Town zoning and subdivision regulations. Board members also hear appeals to decisions made by the Planning & Zoning staff.

Meetings are open to the public and occur as needed, usually on the second Tuesday of the month at 7 p.m.
