Holly Springs Storm Aid Donations Exceed $36,500

Businesses, churches, other organizations and individuals have contributed more than $36,500 to hurricane relief, including more than $12,500 during last Saturday's Storm Aid event at Womble Park.

See a slide show of the Storm Aid celebration.

All money raised during Saturday's event will go to the American Red Cross. Volunteers also collected bottled water and certain other emergency supplies for storm victims.

In addition, volunteers at Storm Aid collected $868 for the Humane Society to help pets and other animals that the storm left fending for themselves.

The $36,530.95 total includes money as well as the value of goods and services from businesses, individuals and community organizations.

The Town of Holly Springs is still collecting donations and selling Storm Aid T-shirts and raffle tickets to help the victims of Hurricane Katrina. T-shirts are available at the reduced price of $10. Wristbands are $1.

Make a donation or buy T-shirts or raffle tickets in person at the Finance Department in Holly Springs Town Hall weekdays between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. You can also mail checks payable to Holly Springs Storm Aid to P.O. Box 8, Holly Springs, NC 27540.
