6/13/05 Rockin' at the Crossing with The Usuals to Kick Off Summer Locals are invited to enjoy the first-ever Rockin' at the Crossing on Thursday, June 30, from 5:30-8:30 p.m. This free block-party bash in the parking lot in front of the Bass Lake Draft House in the Holly Springs Crossing mall will kick off the summer with live music by The Usuals and cool beverages from the Draft House. “Rockin' at the Crossing is going to be an evening to remember,” said Town Manager Carl Dean. “There's no better way to celebrate the beginning of summer in Holly Springs.” “The good people of Holly Springs shouldn't have to leave town to have a good time,” said Andrew Stafford, Bass Lake Draft House owner, who is sponsoring the event. “This is just another way of saying thank you to everyone who has helped Bass Lake Draft House thrive. Get some food, have some drinks and enjoy a great live band.” The main attraction of the evening is the performance by The Usuals, a five-member, high-energy, local rock band playing a cover song list that includes everything from Jungle Boogie to You Shook Me All Night Long, Low Rider to American Girl, reggae and more. Admission to the event is free, and people of all ages are welcome to attend. Beverages will be sold by the Bass Lake Draft House outside in the parking lot near the stage. Food can be purchased inside the Draft House and at other Crossing mall restaurants. No coolers will be allowed. Event-goers are encouraged to bring lawn chairs to relax in while listening to the band. After the Holly Springs Crossing mall parking lot fills, parking for the event will be in other nearby business parking lots and along Earp Street, which runs parallel to Holly Springs Road on the opposite side of the Holly Springs Crossing shopping center. Parking also will be available in the Holly Springs and Holly Ridge school parking lots, which are short walks from the Crossing. The Town of Holly Springs is co-sponsoring the event by providing Public Safety personnel for controlling traffic, Parks & Recreation staff for setting up the stage area, clean-up crews and other organizational assistance. “Not only will this be a fun gathering for locals, but we also see this event attracting people from neighboring towns to Holly Springs,” Dean said. “If this Rockin' at the Crossing is successful, we plan to organize similar evenings in the future.”
