Traffic Accident Causes Power Outage10/26/05 Approximately 2,500 homes and businesses in Holly Springs lost power Wednesday afternoon after a motorist ran off Raleigh Street, crashed into power poles and overturned, the Public Safety Department reported. The driver, who was traveling alone, was taken to WakeMed Cary Hospital. He did not appear to have been severely injured. Progress Energy expected to have power restored to most customers by 4 p.m. and to have power back on everywhere by 9 p.m. The accident occurred about 1:50 p.m. just south of Holly Springs Road. Public Safety Chief Cecil Parker said the driver reported having had a seizure. No other vehicles were involved in the accident. The accident occurred about three blocks from Town Hall. Most operations there had to be suspended because of the power loss. Power was restored to Town Hall about 4:45 p.m.
