Deputy Town Clerk Accepted as Master Member of International Clerk Association

Linda R. Harper, Holly Springs ' deputy town clerk, was accepted as a member in the Master Municipal Clerk Academy Program of the International Institute of Municipal Clerks.

The academy is the professional body of municipal clerks who have continued their level of educational achievement beyond the attainment of the prestigious Certified Municipal Clerk award. Harper obtained the previous award in October, 2003.

After obtaining this original award, to become a master member of the international academy, a person must attend a minimum of 36 hours of graduate courses at a clerks academy or complete similar educational programs. Specific professional participation must be achieved, such as leadership in national and state associations, attendance at seminars and conferences, and professional writings and accomplishments. To date, approximately 15% of the 10,300 members of the international organization have attained this level.

Harper has been employed with the Town of Holy Springs since October, 1997, serving in a Planning/Engineering position before appointment to her current position as deputy clerk in August, 2001.

“Linda is an asset to our office and to the community,” said Town Clerk Joni Powell. “I appreciate her dedication to continuing her education.”

Powell also is a Master Municipal Clerk with the institute, a certification she has held since 2001.
