Third-Annual Kids' Appreciation Day Offers Free Ice Cream and More

At its most recent meeting, the Holly Springs Town Council proclaimed Saturday, May 14, as the third annual Kids' Appreciation Day. To celebrate, children are invited to an ice cream social sponsored by the Town of Holly Springs and the Holly Springs Kiwanis Club. The social will be held Saturday, May 14, from 2-4 p.m. at the Womble Park band shelter and is free of charge to children and their families and friends.

This year's event features WRAL TV Morning Anchor/Reporter Laurie Clowers and Magician Tate the Great. Festivities include a Terrific Kid ceremony, refreshments from Ralph's Ice Cream and NY Pizza, F&M Entertainment rides, face painting, clowns, karaoke, balloons, and more.

“This is a very popular event for Holly Springs' kids,” said Mayor and Kiwanian Dick Sears. “We see it as a growing tradition that tells our children they are appreciated. Moreover, it is one of those events that highlights that Holly Springs–recently named North Carolina 's safest town under 10,000 to live in–is a great place to raise our families. I and my fellow Kiwanians are proud of the outpouring of support for this event from the business and education community.”

To become an event cosponsor or for more information, please call event organizer Linda Hunt Williams at (919) 303-4898 or Sears at (919) 557-3901.
