Elliott Fills New Athletic Programs Manager Position
A Holly Springs Resident, Elliott Also Brings Education and Experience

Meet Julie Elliott, the new athletic programs manager with the Holly Springs Parks & Recreation Department. Not only does she have educational qualifications – a degree in parks, recreation and tourism management from North Carolina State University. Not only does she have years of experience with Raleigh Parks & Recreation working at Lake Wheeler, Lake Johnson and at the Jaycee Community Center. Not only does she know the ins and outs of Holly Springs Parks & Recreation, having worked as a part-time employee in athletics since 2001. She's also a Holly Springs resident and has big goals for the department!

“I'm excited to be here full-time and in this new role,” Elliott said. “It's my hometown that I'm working for, I enjoy the residents and I love the department here. I'm looking forward to introducing some new sports to the area, as well as offering more year-round athletic opportunities for both youth and adults.”

Elliott is planning on introducing adult dodge ball, as well as outdoor sand and indoor volleyball.

“I want to encourage everybody to get out, participate, have fun and be active,” she said.

Elliott is one of two athletic programs managers with the department. Her responsibilities involve serving as the league administrator for adult basketball and soccer, as well as Intro to Football, Intro to Basketball and youth basketball. Another athletic programs manager is the league administrator for adult softball, as well as youth baseball/softball, football, and track and field. The two managers are sharing youth soccer responsibilities.

The division of responsibilities is a new change to the department structure. Formerly, the department employed an athletic program supervisor, who oversaw all athletics, and Poston served as the athletic program assistant.

Len Bradley, department director, said he was looking forward to continuing to work with Elliott.

“Julie has good qualifications and experience,” he said. “She's been working in our department as a part-time employee in athletics for years, so she should fit right in.”
