11th Annual Happy Holly Days Parade is Saturday, Dec. 10 12/02/05 Come to downtown Holly Springs on Saturday morning, Dec. 10 and let the holiday spirit pass right by you. More than 70 entries will take part in the Happy Holly Days Parade, which will begin at 11 a.m. near Oakhall Drive and the Food Lion parking lot. The parade will last about an hour, ending at Town Hall. This year's grand marshals are Marianna & Ted Heim, Holly Springs' citizens of the year for 2005. Tim & Faye Congleton will be master and mistress of ceremonies. The National Guard Minutemen band and the recently formed Town Band will play before the parade starts. Food vendors in the Town Hall parking lot will sell cotton candy, chocolate dipped pretzels, breakfast biscuits, hot dogs, soda, hot cocoa and hot cider, coffee, and baked goods. Parade entries for 2005 include about a half dozen marching bands; Sonshine Gymnastics; Music Academy; the Greyhound Society; Holly Springs School of Dance; football players and cheerleaders from Holly Springs Parks & Recreation; and Shriners in their miniature trucks. Also joining will be church groups, vintage convertibles and Stormy the Carolina Hurricanes mascot. Bringing up the rear, as usual, will be Santa Claus. We're still recruiting volunteers to serve as crossing guards, to assist with the parade lineup, etc. If you'd like to help, call Barb Koblich in Town Hall at (919) 552-6221.
