Monday, Oct. 31 Set for Trick-or-Treating 10/18/05

Monday, Oct. 31 is the evening for Halloween trick-or-treating in Holly Springs .

The Town Council asks that those who celebrate Halloween do so safely while preserving the peace for those who choose not to participate. The council suggests these guidelines:

•  Trick-or-treating should be restricted to children under 13. If teen-agers choose to go trick-or-treating, they should not wear masks.

•  Trick-or-treating should occur during early evening, preferably before 8:30 p.m.

•  Children should have costumes that motorists can see easily in the dark. Masks should not obstruct the child's vision.

•  A responsible older person should accompany children. They go trick-or-treating in own neighborhoods, visiting homes of people they are familiar with.

•  Trick-or-treaters should avoid homes where the porch lights are off, respecting the rights of those who choose not to participate.

•  Parents or guardians should inspect candy before children begin eating it. Report any signs of tampering immediately to Holly Springs Public Safety at (919) 557-9111.
