Spring Fling: Fun for Families

Are your children's tennis shoes tied? Are their baskets ready? The annual Egg Hunt is just around the corner!

On Saturday, March 19, Holly Springs Parks & Recreation is holding its annual Spring Fling, which includes kite flying and an egg hunt – and lots more!

Activities begin at 1 p.m. on the open fields at Womble Park as the American Kite Association begins demonstrations with a variety of kites. A deejay will set up a karaoke machine and will play tunes near the park playground, and an inflatable obstacle course and bounce house will be open for children. Face painting and displays, such as the Be Active NC Blue Van, will be available, too. The Easter Bunny will be present throughout the day to greet children and pose for photographs.

The egg hunt begins at 4 p.m. Plastic eggs will be scattered on the Womble Park ball fields. Children, grouped by age or grouped with their siblings, will be released onto the fields to race for enough eggs to fill their baskets.

The Spring Fling is a free event, and the egg hunt is open to children ages 1-9. Donations of non-perishable food items will be accepted for the Community Wide Food Bank. Along with the Parks & Recreation Department, sponsors of the program include the United Arts Council; Jeffers, Mann and Artman Pediatrics of Cary, Raleigh and Clayton; and Church Alive. If rainy weather cancels the event on Saturday, the egg hunt only will be held on Sunday, March 20, at 4 p.m.
