Applications Taken for Help with Heating Bills 11/03/05

People who will need help paying for heat this winter can apply starting Monday, Nov. 7, 2005 for a cash payment from the state.

The application period ends Nov. 18, 2005. Those who qualify for assistance will receive a check by mail in early February.

Wake County Human Services is accepting applications weekdays between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. applications at these locations:

  • Human Services-Swinburne Building
    220 Swinburne St.
    Raleigh
  • Eastern Regional Center
    1002 Dogwood Drive
    Zebulon

The money comes from the N.C. Low-Income Energy Assistance Program. It is intended for households that are no more than 10 percent above the poverty level. See all qualifications.

Help with heating bills is also available through the Crisis Intervention Program. It is for households that are no more than 50 percent above the poverty level. To apply, call Wake County Human Services beginning Nov. 21, 2005 at (919) 212-7000. Ask for energy assistance programs.
